The NOAA PMO was created to formalize project management across IT projects as well as provide greater visibility and transparency into IT investments. The expected benefits are:
* Appropriate alignment of projects to business needs
* Effective and efficient execution of projects
* Enhanced communications and collaboration across the Line Offices
* Optimized use of resources
* More predictable and consistent delivery of IT services
The PMO consists of two Divisions: the Enterprise Projects Division and the Telecommunications Division.
The Enterprise Project Division manages enterprise projects and provides other project management services to NOAA corporate and line offices.
The Telecommunications Division procures enterprise telecommunications services for NOAA corporate and line offices using GWACs, including WITS 3 and Networks. In addition, they provide telephone support for the Silver Spring Campus
